May 13th, 2018.

May the thirteenth. This marks the last day of the exhibit that was held by the Boston Museum of Art and Antiquities. I traveled a long way from San Myshuno, just to steal the one and only, The Dagger of Aquabi. It was finally displayed after centuries. No one knows why, but that is an advantage for me. It gave me the chance to steal it.

The Dagger of Aquabi was crafted in the 10th century. That makes it a really rare artifact, due to its age. It is decorated with gold filigree, and is set with four emeralds and six rubies. A gift from the Shah of Persia to a sultan, it eventually became the property of the Boston Museum of Art & Antiquities. I am only one of the many people who want it.

One might think that all I care about is cash and cash only. But sometimes, I too, love a little bit of adventure. My teacher, Arthur Kim, taught me to collect artifacts and arts, just like he did. He wanted me to have a name for myself in the thievery world, like he once did. That was the sole reason he chose me. To continue his legacy for him. And I promised that I would never disappoint him.

This museum installed a new alarm system. If I’m not mistaken, the name was Tanuki. I think it was made by a Japanese security company. It is a brand new technology, which means that no one has ever tried to break through it before. More challenge for me. Oh, how wonderful! This will be so fun!

I’ve planned my way in for a week. I disguised myself as a waitress, because that would be the easiest one. I can easily infiltrate the place and hide my equipment under the table. The last day of the exhibit was special, since a gala dinner is being held too. A grand ending, they said. Well, I don’t really care. It gave me some convenience.

After the exhibit, all the stuff is usually being scanned and returned back to its original owners, or the museum’s vault, if it is owned by the museum. As I’ve said before, the dagger is on the property of the museum, so it will be stored at the vault. Of course, that again, made it easier for me to steal. If it is shipped to some owners, it will be hard to track, and definitely harder to grab.

It was seven o’clock at night when I started my mission. I walked around in the waitress uniform, with a tray filled with champagne in my hand. I walked around, serving people, until my tray was empty. Sometimes, I’d glance over to the refreshment table where I hide my gears. I was eyeing it to make sure that it is safe and untouched.

‘TING TING TING!’

Someone ringed their glass. It could be heard all the way across the room. Everyone’s attention was diverted to the source of the sound.
